Frequently Asked Questions

What types of services do you provide?

Our private investigation agency basically offers four main areas of work; Surveillance, Process Service, Witness Locates / Interviews and Due Diligence Investigations.

Are you a licensed private detective agency?

Yes. We maintain a license with the State of Wisconsin and our employees are licensed private detectives as well.

How long have you been in business?

For over 10 years. Central States Investigation Agency was created in 2006 after owner Joshua Erickson parted ways with another private investigation agency to focus his work on Surveillance, Process Service, Witness Locates / Interviews and Due Diligence Investigations.

Are you bonded or insured?

Yes. Our agency maintains a comprehensive insurance policy at all times.

Are your employee’s covered under insurance?

Yes. Central States Investigation Agency, LLC maintains Workman’s Compensation Insurance on its employees.

I’m nervous, I have never called a PI before.

We can’t begin to tell you the number of times we hear that same statement from first time clients in similar situations. We understand that it is difficult to talk about the subject matter you are dealing with, however providing us as much information about your case as you know allows us to provide you better and more focused services.

How much does it cost to hire a private investigator?

As a professional investigation agency, our focus is on obtaining results for you.Without knowing the circumstances, specific to your case such as; what are you trying to find out; how much information do you have; when do you need the services performed and how much you have allocated for an investigation, we cannot begin to provide you with a projected cost that focus on results…not dollars.

So I want to hire you for an investigation, now what?

According to Wisconsin Statues, we must enter into a contract that outlines the particulars of the case. The contract is to protect both you and Central States Investigation Agency, LLC.

Do I pay you now or later?

Much like a law office, we work within a retainer fee that will be secured before services start. Other services we provide such as process service from a business or corporation can be invoiced upon completion of the job. Private individuals are required to prepay for all services unless a working relationship has been established.

How can I pay you?

We offer a range of payment methods including Cash, Check, Money Order, Major Credit Cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover & American Express). We can also send you an electronic invoice via email, payable from your own phone/computer.

How do I know you actually worked on my case?

As professional private investigation agency, our investigators document every step of our investigation and will provide you a report detailing the steps that we have taken. During surveillance services we take integrity shots (video / photo documentation) every hour or half-hour showing our location has not changed.

What do I get for the money I paid you?

If our services were surveillance based, we will also provide you with date and time stamped video and/or photographic evidence documenting our observations along with an unbiased report of all activities. For legal process service we will provide you an affidavit of service indicating any and all attempts and any steps that were taken to effect service upon the said individual or corporation.

Can this evidence be used in court?

The information we provide you can be used in the court of law. Our investigators will testify to the authenticity of our video and photographic evidence on the behalf of our clients as well. It is our experience, the surveillance cases we perform resolve themselves outside of the courtroom in the form of reduced settlements after review of our surveillance video.
